ish' is Lynne Cazaly’s sixth book and tackles the problems we face when we chase the elusive ‘perfect’ - whether we’re preparing a report or presentation at work, making something or working on any of our projects in life.  Excellence, quality and continuous improvement are important. But the pursuit of perfection …not so much.  Our drive to make things look, feel or seem perfect is dangerously on the rise and has dire consequences for how we feel about ourselves and how well we live, work and collaborate with others. Lynne Cazaly shares the latest thinking, information and ideas on the problems of going for perfect and how caring less and being more ‘ish’ – which means somewhat, more or less, to some extent - is a more flexible, helpful and happier way to think and work.  ish. Near enough is so often good enough on the things that don’t matter as much as we think they do. Lynne Cazaly suggests we need to care less about more, and care more about less. Make this year the year of ish.

* Perfectionism is a problem that’s on the rise; more people are expecting higher standards of themselves and think that society also has increasing expectations of them. As a result, we see people unhappy with how they look, the quality of the work they’re producing - whether it’s the cake they’re making or the ideas they’re putting out into the world as a business or project. * As Lynne Cazaly was working with and mentoring many business owners - and people who’d like to launch a business or put their ideas out into the world - she found that so many of them were held back and hesitating paralysed with the fear that what they were doing wasn’t ‘good enough’. * ‘ish’ is something we may be familiar with as it relates to things like: time: 6-ish, food: noodle-ish, quality: good-ish. What if we applied ‘ish’ to our ideas, projects, work and wider life? * The book has been written by Lynne Cazaly in iterations; that is, the first versions of the book were shared with readers and their feedback and comments were incorporated into later versions. The book writing process itself was a reflection of how we will feel better about ourselves if we go for iteration or progress… rather than perfection. The author is a reformed perfectionist and has found ways to overcome perfectionism, launching and running a successful business and living a life of greater happiness and self-acceptance. * Working with Scott Eathorne of Quikmark Media with a three month publicity and media campaign. * April 2019: commentary, extracts and articles contribute to relevant magazines, industry specific Business-to-Business publications. * May 2019: Leveraging published articles to generate opinion pieces and interviews in press. * June 2019: Online media, radio and television interviews. The author will also be speaking, training and presenting at conferences, events and public workshops over this time in New Zealand, Perth, Sydney and Melbourne.
