Over the past half-century, worship scholars have found a substantial ecumenical worship pattern in Luke's story of Jesus' post-resurrection appearance on the road and at the table in Emmaus. In that word-and-meal structure, the relationship between preaching and worship as distinct aspects of liturgical experience breaks down. The preached word, then, and the liturgical event within which preaching is located become integral to each other. This book invites the reader to explore how-through God's word-preaching informs and is, in turn, supported by the worship event as a whole.; Dr. Melinda Quivik is a minister, writer, and lecturer from Houghton, MI. She earned her Bachelor's from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, her Master of Divinity from Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia (LTSP), and her PhD from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California with a focus on worship and preaching. From 2005-2010, she served as Professor of Worship and Preaching at LTSP. Before her graduate work, she served as a pastor in churches in Montana and Minnesota.
