Valerie J. Fuller, PhD, DNP, AGACNP-BC, FNP-BC, FNAP, FAANP is an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner who works in the Department of Surgery at Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME. She is the Region 1 Director to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Board Chair and APRN member of the Maine State Board of Nursing, and Past President of the Maine Nurse Practitioner Association. She is actively involved in APRN education, practice, and policy issues at local, state and national levels. Her clinical and research interests include vascular surgery, wound care, and delirium.

Paula S. McCauley, DNP, ACNP-BC, CMC, CSC, FAANP is an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She has also served for many years as Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, in cardiology and Critical Care at the University of Connecticut Health Center, John Dempsey Hospital. She has served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs/Associate Clinical Professor/Acute Care Track Coordinator at University of Connecticut School of Nursing. She is actively involved in APRN practice, serving as co-chair of the Acute Care Specialty community of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and chair of the 2022 task force on the American Association of Critical Care Nurses revisions of the Scope and Standards for Acute Care Nurse Practitioners. Her clinical and research interests include advance practice education, cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and pain management.
