The world has changed since those of us parenting or working with adolescents were teenagers themselves. In this seminar, popular Australian parenting author, educator and resilience specialist Maggie Dent draws on almost 40 years of experience in teaching, raising and counselling adolescents to help us better understand and support teens in our lives. Maggie covers: whey we are worried about adolescents today; how to decode teens and their behaviour; practical tips and strategies for communicating, living and working with adolescents; and how to build resilience, be a ‘lighthouse’ and help young people to find their spark and keep it lit.

Maggie Dent is an author, educator, and parenting and resilience specialist with a particular interest in the early years and adolescence. She is a passionate advocate for the healthy, common-sense raising of children in order to strengthen families and communities. Maggie has a wide background of experience that informs her work including teaching, counselling and working in the palliative care and funeral industries. She is a sought after media commentator who appears regularly on TV, ABC and commercial radio, and who writes for a range of parenting and education magazines and blogs. Maggie is the author of seven books including: Saving Our Adolescents (2010) and Taking the High Road (2014) an ebook for adolescents.
