Reg Grundy is one of the key figures in the history of television, known in his native Australia and around the world for his successes as a producer and entrepreneur. Fewer are familiar with Grundy's photographic talents, which were first recognized and emboldened by his friend, legendary celebrity photographer, Douglas Kirkland. Culled from more than four decades of archived photographs, Mother and Child is a breathtaking collection of photographs on the most universal of topics-the enduring bond between mothers and their children, shared by all living beings. These evocative photographs take us from the red soil of the Arabian Peninsula to snowy, polar-bear inhabited corners of the arctic, offering glimpses of maternal relationships across boundaries of nation and species. Portraits of mothers as they feed, nurture, teach, and play with their young serve as a poignant reminder that all species live rich emotional and social lives, sharing so much with their human counterparts. This memorable perspective on wildlife, by a man whose vision and determination allow him to thrive at any endeavor he chooses, is a tribute to life and love in its purest form: the relationship between Mother and Child.
Reg Grundy is one of the most successful Australian entrepreneurs, and media and television moguls of his generation. Grundy started as a boxing and general sports commentator for radio station 2SM Sydney in 1947. While at 2CH Sydney in 1957, he devised and hosted the Wheel of Fortune game show on radio, moving with that show to television, starting on Channel 9 in 1959. He then founded the Reg Grundy Organisation in 1960. After forming his own production company, he began producing game shows for the Australian and overseas market, before eventually branching out into drama in 1973. In 1977, he coproduced ABBA: The Movie. The company has subsequently produced numerous successful television soap operas and drama series. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the New Years Honours of 1983, and was made a Companion of the Order of Australia in the Queen's Birthday Honours of 2008. Since 1995, Grundy has indulged in his lifelong passion of wildlife photography. In June 2009, an exhibition of photographs of Bermuda Longtail fish by Grundy, "Longtails: The Bermuda Dream," opened in The Rick Faries Gallery at the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art. He resides in Bermuda with his wife, actress Joy Chambers.
