From the author of Thanksgiving in the Woods and A Simple Christmas on the Farm comes another fall holiday story. The apples are ready for harvest and Halloween is here! What better way to celebrate than by donning homemade costumes and going to the local apple orchard? In this charming story, a boy and his family enjoy everything the orchard has to offer, including searching for scarecrows, getting lost in a corn maze, and going on a hayride. Phyllis Alsdurf's nostalgic storytelling and Lisa Hunt's cozy illustrations will have you counting down the days until Halloween and apple orchard season! Backmatter includes a search-and-find key for finding scarecrows in the book and instructions for decorating a homemade trick-or-treat bag. Halloween in the Orchard is the third in the beloved Countryside Holidays series, along with Thanksgiving in the Woods and A Simple Christmas on the Farm.
Phyllis Alsdurf is a former journalism and creative writing professor and the author of Thanksgiving in the Woods, A Simple Christmas on the Farm, Halloween in the Orchard, Easter on the Farm, and It's Milking Time. Phyllis lives in Minnesota where she enjoys gardening and bird watching, biking and kayaking. She loves to explore small towns on the prairie and host summer tea parties under the enormous maples in her back yard. Lisa Hunt is a freelance illustrator living near London, England. She has a degree in fine art from Coventry University. She has illustrated several books and worked for publishers in the United States and the United Kingdom. When not at her desk, Lisa can usually be found in the local coffee shop happily eating carrot cake, or sitting on the staircase at home waggling a bit of string at an over-excitable ginger cat.
