Four book-length poems respond to the experience of walking in the wild landscapes of the highlands and islands of Scotland.

Thomas A. Clark lives in a fishing village on the east coast of Scotland. Four books of his poetry have been published by Carcanet include The Hundred Thousand Places (2009), Yellow & Blue (2014) and Farm by the Shore(2017). Numerous small books, cards and editions from his own Moschatel Press investigate ways that the presentation of poetry can inform sense and nuance. During the summer months, with the artist Laurie Clark, he runs Cairn Gallery, a space for minimal and conceptual art.

• New book gathers four book-length poems (includes his three previous Carcanet collections in full) exploring the landscape and culture of the highlands and islands of Scotland • One of Scotland’s most distinctive contemporary writers, a vivid minimalist, ruralist, and experimentalist • Explores walking as a pratice of attention, particularly ecological awareness • His Selected Poems (2020) was a Telegraph Book of the Year, shortlisted for the Scottish Poetry Book of the Year 2021 and longlisted for the Laurel Prize 2021 • Clark runs Cairn Gallery in Fife and has connections to contemporary art and artists
