A Naturalist’s Guide to the Butterflies of Borneo is an introductory photographic identification guide to 122 butterfly species and a selection of moths most commonly seen in Borneo (covering Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Kalimantan). Honor and Cosmo Phillipps’ high quality photographs are accompanied by detailed species descriptions, which include nomenclature, wingspan, habits and habitat, larval foodplants and range. The user-friendly introduction covers a family tree for lepidoptera, where to see the butterflies, the Bornean environment, life cycle, parts of a butterfly, wing patterns and butterfly behaviour. Egg sizes, common larval food plants and nectar plants are also described and illustrated.
Honor Phillipps was educated at Bedales school, Hampshire, UK and the University of York. She is an enthusiast who has studied and photographed butterflies over many years both in the UK and in Borneo where she has travelled widely through Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Kalimantan. She is married to Quentin Phillipps, author of Phillipps' Field Guide to the Birds of Borneo and Phillipps' Field Guide to the Mammals of Borneo
