Even now, when modern technology has made information so easy to exchange, some words are still hard to say. In this book, Shane Connolly examines the language of flowers in the context of love - that most tricky and subtle of emotions. Using a selection of over fifty gorgeous plants, Shane demonstrates how flowers, whether as single stems or as part of an arrangement, can reveal what our lovestruck, lovelorn or love-renewed selves are too wary or tongue-tied to express. Over eight practical projects, including simple wild strawberry wedding buttonholes and a biodegradable funeral arrangement, communicate their own exclusive and personal message.

Shane Connolly, renowned floral designer, has, over two decades, amassed an enormous, discreet and highly covetable international client list. It was his vision for the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding in 2011 that put him on the map and placed him amongst the most famous florists in the world. Shane holds the Royal Warrant to HRH the Prince of Wales, also due to his belief in using seasonal, sustainable and local plants and flowers. His previous books include The Language of Flowers and A Year in Flowers.

Not only did Shane Connolly design the fl owers for William and Kate’s royal wedding in 2011, he has also held a Royal
Warrant of Appointment to Prince Charles since 2006, and was awarded a second Royal Warrant to The Queen in 2014 - In  Discovering the Meaning of Flowers, he introduces the lost art of Floriography to a new audience - For example; many of us know that sending a red rose means ‘I love you’, but we’re probably not as aware that returning a single rose
leaf means ‘There’s hope’ - As for handing back the withered original? That’s a definite ‘Slap in the face’! - Interesting, educational and featuring beautiful imagery, it’s every flower lover’s dream!
