One of the biggest decisions all parents make is in choosing how to educate their children. It is a preoccupation and a talking point throughout the childhood years, and how much more so for those of you who are considering the benefits of an international education for your children. If you are talking about sending your child overseas, probably to boarding school, then this book is for you. With a particular focus on UK boarding schools, it charts the journey, stage by stage, that each and every parent and student must make, together with our advice and encouragement along the way. The book is based on extensive research and a sizeable archive of advice and anecdotes from a huge number of students, teachers, parents and educational consultants. The advice ranges from the very obvious to the rather more surprising. It will leave you and your child feeling better armed for what is ahead.
Victoria Davies Jones worked for twelve years as a producer and reporter for BBC TV/Radio news. She is now co-director of Prep4, an educational consultancy which provides communication and presentation skills for children and adults. She specialises in preparation for senior independent schools and Oxbridge/University admissions. She lives in London and Sussex with her husband and three children. Jennifer Ma attended local school in Hong Kong, and then boarding school in the UK before graduating First Class Honors from the University of Oxford. She co-founded Arch Education to provide advice to students interested in UK boarding schools, including assessments and preparatory steps. Graham Lee is co-director of Prep4 and a specialist tutor in drama and communication skills with 25 years teaching experience in top UK independent schools. He runs the interview skills programme at Benenden. Both his children were boarders.
