Grandmotherland looks back to the past and forward to the future, while being rooted in the reality of the modern grandmother's life. In this book there are stories of the 'good' or good-enough granny, the 'bad' granny, and all those in between, as well as those of women who decided to be agents of transmission in other ways than passing on their DNA.
Dr Judith Edwards is a retired consultant child and adolescent psychotherapist who taught and supervised on various courses at the Tavistock Clinic, where she had worked since the 1980s. A past editor of the Journal of Child Psychotherapy, she has published her work in papers and academic books internationally.
In 2010 Dr Judith Edwards was awarded the Jan Lee memorial prize for the best paper linking psychoanalysis and the arts during that year.
