But the attraction of huge incomes and the magnetism of Nat Cohen, a leading member of the network, suck Ed and his friend Sid Willis into giving it a try. Ed struggles through prospecting his warm circle until he hits the brick wall of the cold call. Does he find a way over the wall or turn and run?
Ed lets us into his quirky and highly inventive mind as he grapples with handling rejection, sexual preferences, loyalty and, finally, the demands of his conscience.

Fraser Beath McEwing was born into a Melbourne textile family, and after unsatisfactorily trying to serve journalism and textile marketing at the same time, arrived at a compromise: the fashion industry trade press. He edited Australian Fashion News from 1968 until 1972, and then founded his own fortnightly industry newspaper, Ragtrader. In 1988 he received the Australian Fashion Groups Award of Excellence for services to the Australian Fashion Industry. In 1990 he sold his interest in Ragtrader to devote himself to full-time writing.Â
Fraser Beath McEwing, a magazine editor for most of his career, has written both fiction and non-fiction. Feel the Width, was published in 1994. His experience, in the early 1990s, with network marketing formed the basis of this satirical novel, cafe.
