Charlie was excited (and his siblings were too!) But this tooth would not stop him from work he must do. There was hay to be loaded and cows to be fed, crops to be watered – all before bed! Charlie lives on his family farm and wakes up one day with a loose tooth. He has a busy day ahead working on the farm. When will his tooth fall out and will the tooth fairy visit the farm?
Author: Clare Goodwin is a Brisbane-based author and stay-at-home mother of three young children. Clare grew up on her family’s cattle farm near Dalby, Queensland. She draws her inspiration for her stories from her rural upbringing, which she shared with her five brothers and five sisters, and her cousins across the creek. Clare is tertiary-qualified, with a background in education and commerce. Illustrator: Caroline Keys is an illustrator based in Ballarat, Australia. She grew up in South Africa and wanted to be an artist from the time she could hold a crayon. After studying graphic design, she cut her teeth as an illustrator working on readers and textbooks for children in rural African schools. Currently, her work is a lot easier compared to in those days when she used old house paint (because she couldn’t afford to buy acrylics) that would dry in the African heat before she’d even finished painting. She would have to pay her brother to pose for her and would head to the library constantly to use the town’s coin-operated internet for resources. Now, after close to 20 years of living in Australia, she sits in the comfort of her studio with a high-speed internet connection, all the watercolours, inks and gouache she could have ever dreamed of and 3 children available to bribe with chocolate at a moment’s notice.
* A wonderful story about Charlie, a young boy with a loose tooth and plenty of work to get done! * Themes of hard work, hope and family are key to this story. * Rhyming text assists in literacy and vocabulary skills in young readers. * Soft and detailed watercolour illustrations by experienced artist, Caroline Keys.
