My First Emergency is a new fun and engaging childrens book series where the ambulance, fire brigade and police come to help. Created by a Brisbane paramedic, the books tell stories of kids experiencing their first emergency with situations children can relate to that teach them important things to learn about an emergency. Targeting early childhood, kids can learn what happens and what to do in an emergency, with a discussion page as a perfect way to start conversations that teach children important things to know and practise in an emergency, like the emergency number to call. The books feature cute Australian native animals as the first responders - Ambo Kookie a Kookaburra, Fireman Rooey a Kangaroo and Police Officer Emy an Emu making reading and learning an important topic fun.

Author: Amie Cawood is a paramedic in Brisbane, Australia. Her passion is helping people which has inspired her to create books for children to learn about the emergency services. Amie started writing kids stories as a hobby in between shifts and family life. Growing up in the Aussie bush surrounded by Australian native animals and her experiences helping kids in her job helped shape the creation of her vision. With cute characters and everyday situations for children to relate to, her stories make an important topic fun and enjoyable for every family. Illustrator: Emelie Wiklund is an 2D artist and designer from Stockholm, Sweden. She currently lives in Stockholm, Nacka with her husband and two children. ​She is a freelancing illustrator that mostly works with children´s books but also works with surface design, character design and 2D art. Emelie is proud to be an illustrator who highlights sustainability and the environment. Emelie is also passionate about creating products with deep ties to children and parenting.

* A house fire can be a scary and traumatic experience and children are at great risk for injury in the event of a home fire. Having a home fire safety plan can save lives. This story helps kids knowing what to do when they hear the smoke alarm and understand the importance of having a fire escape plan and practising it with their family. * An emergency can be an incredibly stressful and scary event for kids. The My First Emergency stories are hardback picture books that aims to help kids become familiar with various types of emergencies to help them cope and respond better when they are faced in a crisis or an unexpected situation like an emergency. * The books help kids learn about the emergency services, why they exist, what to expect, what to know and practise, like the emergency number to call.
