Iris doesn’t look like anyone in her family. She really wants to blend in with the rest of the herd. But for a bright purple alpaca, it’s not that easy. Will Iris discover the ultimate disguise for blending in? Or will she discover that some things are more important than looking like everyone else?
Kassandra Papuga is an Australian mother, teacher, and author. Although she has been writing for many years, Iris is her first published book, inspired by her alpaca-loving daughter. Kassandra is passionate about sharing her love of children’s literature and the enjoyment of books with her daughter and the classes of students she teaches. When she’s not teaching or writing, you can find her reading, sipping tea, road-tripping with her family, or at the MCG watching her beloved Melbourne Demons play. Kassandra lives in Melbourne, Australia with her husband Adam, daughter Zoey, and Max the Cavoodle. You can find her on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter under the username @KassandraPapuga. Website: www.kassandrapapuga.com Amy has loved to draw from a young age and often made up games based around drawing to entertain her younger brother and cousins. Her artistic talent was noticed and she was then accepted into fashion and textile design in high school, and later at TAFE. When she became a mother, she fell in love with picture book illustration, and realised what her true potential could be. Amy has developed a few distinct styles and is always playing with new techniques to expand her repertoire. When Amy isn’t doing her favourite thing (illustrating picture books), she’s badly roller-skating or attempting a handstand while her kids whizz around her at great speed.
* A heart-warming story of individuality, self-discovery, and celebrating individual differences that will greatly appeal to and be enjoyed by both Australian and international readers. * The endearing tale of Iris the purple alpaca is wonderfully complemented by Amy Calautti’s bright and lively illustrations. * As a parent and primary school teacher with over 12 years of teaching experience, Kassandra has created a story that can be used by parents and educators for both enjoyment and educational purposes.
