My Shining Star

A world of confusion opens up for little Ollie when his Dad suddenly passes away. 'Where did he go'?, was the question. Amidst the confusion Ollie decides to go walking to try and find his Dad. Along the way lots of little creatures come out to greet him. With mums help, Ollie realises that his Dad is all around him, 'the birds in the trees, the air that we breathe'. My Shining Star is a story to help children in times of grief, told a little differently. A lovely tale of finding light after loss through nature.
* 1 in 20 children will experience the death of a parent before the age of 18. Finding books to help parents of bereaved children is extremely difficult. Most books on the shelves are a clinical viewpoint and help the parent specifically. This is a book that SPECIFICALLY helps the child. * This book is based on a real life experience. There is no better way to help a bereaved child than from a real perspective. * This book is extremely adaptable. My Shining Star can be adapted to all walks of life as the book is about a child finding comfort through nature. Nature is all around us and is completely relatable to children. * Regional WA tour with plans to tour the Eastern States in 2020. * Two page spread on Robina Haines' journey and subsequent writing of My Shining Star in The West Magazine Lift Out (Part of the The West Australian Newspaper - Saturdays Edition). * Three page spread Ripe Magazine. This is the monthly liftout magazine in the Farm Weekly which is Australian Distributed. Through this I have developed a strong following in regional areas and regularly travel to communities to guest speak. I have been asked to be reinterviewed in 2020. * 6PR interview as a guest on the Chris Ilsley Show which talked about the journey of My Shining Star. 6PR have offered me a follow on interview in 2020. * Radio interview on the afternoon show with Jenny Seaton (Curtin FM). In this interview we discussed the loss of a loved one and how the books can help. I was asked to reappear in 2020. * Two page feature lift out in the Womans Day 'Its your Day' magazine. This article talks on both books, My Shining Star and Hello Grief Be My Friend. This was the turning point of knowing I had to get my books into store as I had a staggering amount of public interest . People across Australia wanted to know where they could purchase my books. I hope to be able to discuss this again with The Womans Day, when my books are available in store. * ABC regional radio interview on the morning show with Dominique Bayens. I have now done 2 interviews on the Morning Show talking about both books. I have been offered a live, in studio talkback interview in Perth in early 2020 to discuss my books and to discuss my third book which is soon to be published. * Waiting to hear from 3 prominent stations in Perth which have expressed an interest for 2020 and also A major Australian lifestyle show who have expressed an interest for 2020 and have informed me I would be contacted when scheduling was released. * Full Production Podcasting. I have done my first podcast with Full Production which is a podcaster that streams to all the minesites in Australia and New Zealand. I have been offered a series of 5 to discuss my books and my journey.
