Description

Dr. Rippe is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Medical School with post graduate training at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is currently the Founder and Director of the Rippe Lifestyle Institute in Shrewsbury, MA. In addition to serving as Editor in Chief of the Journal of Intensive Care Medicine, Dr. Rippe also edits a major textbook teaching physicians about diverse aspects of cardiovascular medicine and the impact of lifestyle decisions on good health. This textbook, Lifestyle Medicine, (CRC Press, 2019) is the major academic textbook to guide physicians in the diverse aspects of how to incorporate lifestyle recommendations into the practice of modern medicine. . His intensive care textbook, Irwin and Rippe's Intensive Care Medicine (8th edition, 2018; co-edited with Dr. Richard Irwin) is the world's leading textbook on intensive and coronary care.

"Rippe has selected 300-plus essays, written by 250 contributors, on ways in which daily habits affect health and quality of life. The result is a robust, credible reference about the application of environmental, behavioral, medical, and motivational principles to the management of lifestyle-related health problems. Entries have enough detail to make them understandable, and contributors clearly followed the format of definition/history, explanation, development/details, and examples. The language is appropriately technical, but approachable by undergraduates." -- Choice * Choice * This is a significant and important reference for healthcare professionals... every doctors surgery should have one of these, [and] it would also be a useful adjunct on the family bookshelf. -- Stephen Bray * Nurturing Potential *
