Tisa Wenger is Associate Professor of American Religious History at Yale Divinity School. She is the author of Religious Freedom: The Contested History of an American Ideal (University of North Carolina Press, 2017) and We Have a Religion: The 1920s Pueblo Indian Dance Controversy and American Religious Freedom (University of North Carolina Press, 2009). Sylvester A. Johnson Directs the Center for Humanities at Virginia Tech and is a Professor in the Department of Religion and Culture. His research examines religion, race, national security, and technology. Among his other books is African American Religions, 1500-2000: Colonialism, Democracy, and Freedom.
