"An essential work that grieving families can hold onto in their darkest hours. Parenting through grief is an almost impossible challenge-balancing one's own sorrow while trying to guide a child or teen whose grief may appear confusing, even defiant-and this book meets that reality with compassion and clarity. With insights grounded in child and youth development and a focus on self-care, Dr. Korie Leigh offers parents and caregivers practical wisdom and profound reassurance. Bravo!" -- Nicole Letourneau, Ph.D., RN, University of Calgary Research Excellence Chair,?Parent and Child Health, and assistant dean and professor, Faculty of Nursing "Dr. Korie Leigh does an exquisite job of taking into consideration that developmental stages are imperative to how children grieve. In When Everything Changes, Leigh maps out how and WHY grief shows up in the body the way that it does-impacting the brain and causing shifts in relationships. This book gently and effectively teaches caregivers how to equip children with the tools to communicate what their grief looks like and offers clear, age-appropriate methods of processing. When Everything Changes is sure to become the go-to guide for understanding the complexities of helping a child understand grief and loss at every stage." -- Meghan Riordan Jarvis, MA, LICSW, grief and trauma expert, author of?Can Anyone Tell Me?
