Melissa Wei-Tsing Inouye (pronouned "in-oh-way") (1979-2024) was a senior lecturer at the University of Auckland, as well as an associate editor of Mormon Studies Review. She was the author of China and the True Jesus: Charisma and Organization in a Chinese Christian Church (Oxford, 2019), as well as the memoir Crossings: A Bald Asian American Latter-day Saint Woman Scholar's Ventures Through Life, Death, Cancer, and Motherhood (BYU/Maxwell Center, 2019). Laurie F. Maffly-Kipp is the Richard Lyman Bushman Chair of Mormon Studies at UVA. She is the author of, most recently, Religion and Society in Frontier California (Yale, 2013), and she has authored or edited five other books.
