Here, Richard Etulain offers a guide to this diverse material for all readers, scholars and enthusiasts alike. I only wish it had been available when I began my research on Calamity a couple of decades ago."" - James McLaird, author of Calamity Jane: The Woman and the Legend ""With this volume, Richard W. Etulain establishes himself as the ultimate expert on Calamity Jane and the record - in print, photograph, and film - of her life and legend. This book will obviate any excuse for failing to present Calamity Jane accurately or failing to understand the anatomy and growth of mythic stories like hers. Etulain's fortitude and scholarship are to be envied."" - Glenda Riley, author of The Life and Legacy of Annie Oakley
