Stephanie Baird, MS, LMHC has provided therapy, assessment, and educational talks and programs on trauma, self-care, and stress reduction in various mental health settings such as prisons, hospitals, clinics, and private practice since 1999. Her private practice specialties include EMDR Therapy, trauma/PTSD, sexual health, and treating mental health professionals. She became an EMDRIA Approved Consultant in 2016 and runs monthly EMDR Therapy consultation groups. Stephanie joined the Western Mass EMDRIA Regional Network Board of Directors in 2012, serving as Treasurer and Regional Co-Coordinator until late 2018.
Regarding sexual health, Stephanie attended a Sex Therapy Consultation Group at the Northampton Sex Therapy Associates (NSTA) from 2016 through 2019. Most recently she became an OWL (Our Whole Lives) certified sex educator in April 2018, for grades 7 through 12. In March 2019 she became certified to teach the Adult OWL (young adult, adult, and older adult) curriculum. In 2020 she attained her Advancing Clinical Sexuality Excellence certification.
Stephanie loves bringing sex-positive information and sexual health into her EMDR Therapy practice and especially loves bringing clients through healthy sexuality EMDR Future Templates and resources. Furthering her goals of empowered sex-positive and pleasure-positive sexual health education she writes a monthly column called Sex Matters for the local Montague Reporter newspaper.
Lastly, she has a livelong love of writing from both sides of her brain. This first professional book, EMDR Therapy and Sexual Health: A Clinicians Guide, very much engaged her right brain. Writing prose and poetry (since her teens) engrosses her left brain. She recently published her first poetry chapbook Duets: Love Poems and Prayers (2020) available through Orchard Street Press). When not writing or working, she loved road bicycling and planning trips, and traveling with her family or friends.
