Candice Knight, PhD, EdD, APN, PMHCNS-BC, PMHNP-BC, is an associate professor and director of the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program at New York University College of Nursing in New York City, New York. She is a licensed clinical psychologist, a psychiatric nurse clinical specialist, a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, and co-owner of large private practice that works with clients across the life span. Dr. Knight is a certified Gestalt therapist who practices psychotherapy from a humanistic-existential framework. Whether providing psychotherapy or prescribing medications, she believes in the primacy of the therapeutic relationship and understanding her clients from an in-depth, phenomenological perspective. Dr. Knight is a well-known regional and national speaker on many diverse topics related to psychotherapy. Her research, writing, and teaching interests are centered on how to become an exceptional psychotherapist, how to create moments of healing in psychotherapy, and how to teach psychotherapy to aspiring psychotherapists.

Kathleen Wheeler, PhD, PMHNP-BC, APRN, FAAN, is an advanced practice psychiatric nurse and a professor and director of the PMHNP program at Fairfield University Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies in Fairfield, Connecticut. Dr. Wheeler has been a leader in projects that are highly significant for psychiatric nursing.
