In Positive and Transpersonal Approaches to Therapy, Roger Walsh works with a young woman who is questioning her religious faith and related conventional views of religion and spirituality. In his deeply empathic approach to therapy, Dr. Walsh explores the client's existential and spiritual anxieties and helps her to recognise them as part of a positive developmental process. He also works with her self-condemnation and sense of unworthiness, and enables her to identify her personal strengths, a process which proves deeply meaningful to her. In addition to exploring existential, spiritual and developmental issues, this demonstration also emphasises collective social and cultural factors.
