D. Preman Niles is one of the outstanding contemporary Asian Christian theologians. As the first director of the World Council of Churches' Department on Justice, Peace, and the Integrity of Creation, he played a pivotal role in building up a theological basis for struggles for justice and environmental concerns. He also served as the associate general secretary and secretary for theological concerns in the Christian Conference of Asia.
