Sarah Griffiths started teaching after spending 15 years in industry. She studied electrical and electronic engineering at Cambridge and started her career as an electronics design engineer designing control equipment for locomotives. In addition to designing circuit boards, writing software for the loco control system was her first foray into computing. Griffiths then moved out of detail design activities into planning and project management of the activities for the design and build of locomotives. This role introduced her to the idea of managing change within an organization and also gave her the opportunity to implement her first computer system - a multi-user project planning system. Wanting to learn more, Griffiths studied for an MBA at Loughborough University and eventually moved into a consultancy role helping companies assess their systems requirements, design business processes and implement the supporting systems.
