Description
"Kent, Ohio, infamous for the 1970 Kent State University shootings, also spawned a robust and influential music scene. Drawing on vintage concert reviews and firsthand reminiscences, Prufer paints an affectionate picture of a music-hungry community that welcomed artists including Pink Floyd, the Clash, the Replacements, and Bruce Springsteen-as well as hometown heroes Devo and Joe Walsh-often at early, pivotal stages of their careers." -Publishers Weekly "What brought all those people-those artists, photographers, poets, filmmakers, and musicians-together? College. Kent State is what made Kent such a magical place at the time and what continues to make it special. And I would never be able to be where I am now without that experience. It was just a magical time." -Joe Walsh, from the Foreword
