Description
The Peace Corps in Tanzania: A History is a significant contribution to the literature on development assistance. Students, scholars, and practitioners of diplomacy and international relations will find Lawrence Mbogoni's book an invaluable resource. The focus of the book and its longitudinal survey of the case of Tanzania is uniquely informative and insightfully illuminating." - Wanjala S. Nasong'o, professor of international studies, Rhodes College, and Carnegie African Diaspora Fellow "Lawrence Mbogoni's account of the history of the Peace Corps in Tanzania gives an even-handed assessment of the extent to which that program achieved the Peace Corps's core objectives. While there have been successes, the Peace Corps's experience in Tanzania provides important lessons to improve the agency's work in Tanzania and elsewhere. This book also shares entertaining and insightful stories and observations from Peace Corps volunteers that illustrate the challenges and rewards of Peace Corps service." - Bob Goodsell, returned Peace Corps volunteer and board member of Friends of Tanzania/Marafiki wa Tanzania
