Chris Rogers is associate professor of linguistics at Brigham Young University. He is the author of The Use and Development of the Xinkan Languages as well as many academic articles detailing the grammatical structures of the Xinkan languages and their place within Mesoamerica. Lyle Campbell is professor emeritus of linguistics at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. He is the author of 25 books and 200+ articles, and the cofounder of the Catalogue of Endangered Languages. Terrence Kaufman (1937-2022) was professor emeritus of linguistics and anthropology at the University of Pittsburgh. A dominant figure in Mesoamerican linguistics, he co-founded the Proyecto Lingueistico "Francisco Marroquin" and the Project for the Documentation of the Languages of MesoAmerica.
