Growing up in Sydney’s leafy north shore on a diet of Agatha Christie, Ruth Ratner always harboured the notion of being the bookish Jo in Little Women. A lifetime in General Practice cemented her desire to better understand the mysteries of human nature. A dedicated GP in her community for over 40 years, Ruth teaches medical students from the University of Sydney, as well as facilitates an exchange program between Technion Medical School and Sydney University. In her spare time, Ruth is an artist, pianist and writer. Her first novel, Dance Me to the End of Love, was published in 2019. The Backpacker is her second novel.
