Beatrys Lockie was born in The Netherlands in 1927 and began to tell stories at an early age. She moved to Scotland and was a class teacher at the Edinburgh Rudolf Steiner School until her retirement, when she founded and ran a succession of kindergartens. She lived in the Scottish Borders for many years. Sandra Klaassen was born in 1959 in the Netherlands but lived for many years on the island of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland, from where she drew her inspiration for Scottish picture books Peg the Little Sheepdog and Uan the Little Lamb. She has illustrated over thirty children's books.
