Alison Killen is a Research Associate and the Biomedical Research Centre Dementia and Mental Health Theme Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement Facilitator at Newcastle University. She has worked in dementia research with a focus on Lewy body dementia (LBD) for the past 15 years and authored a number of papers on the topic. She was awarded a grant from the Lewy Body Society UK to develop an intervention to meet the support and information needs of people and their families following a new diagnosis. She has worked in one of very few LBD specific diagnostic clinics in the UK with an international expert on this condition Professor J P Taylor. During this time, she has conducted numerous psychological assessments and provided psychosocial support to a wide variety of people with LBD and their families.
