Educating Children and Young People in Care

Children and young people in care often fail to match the academic achievements of their peers. Policy and procedures to address this situation have not, to date, remedied the problem.This book argues that for children in care to thrive educationally a new approach is necessary: learning placements and caring schools. Education and care must be considered integral to both out of home placements and schools. It suggests that a broad perspective on education is necessary in which learning happens in all settings, whether counting with foster carers or team building in residential care.
