Description

Amy Gaunt is Director of Education at Voice 21, the national oracy charity. She began her career as a primary teacher, working in schools in London and internationally. She holds an MA in Education from the UCL Institute of Education.

Alice Stott is an education consultant, working with schools, trusts and charities on oracy, programme design and strategy. She was Director of Programmes at Voice 21 for almost a decade. Prior to that, she taught English in secondary schools in London. She is a Churchill Fellow.

Together, Amy and Alice developed Voice 21s approach to oracy education, drawing on academic research and codifying effective practice from schools across the UK to develop practical approaches that can be used in the classroom. They are co-authors of Transform Teaching and Learning through Talk: The Oracy Imperative and co-developed Voice 21s Oracy Benchmarks.

Over the last two years they have supported thousands of teachers and hundreds of schools across the UK to embrace oracy in their pedagogy and curriculum. Their practice has been shaped by the innovative approaches to oracy developed at School 21, a pioneering state school in Stratford, East London.
