Description

Melbourne boasts a huge range of beautiful natural environments, making it perfect for exploring on foot. Melbourne’s Best River, Bay and Lakeside Walks, joining the hugely successful walking guides series from Woodslane Press, introduces the best walks for visitors and residents alike, ranging from fascinating riverside walks and leisurely bay-side strolls to the more natural parklands and bush tracks beyond the urban fringes. Detailed descriptions, clear directions and colour maps help the reader explore Melbourne’s parks, bushland, bay-side beaches and rivers. As with previous titles in the series, the book is richly illustrated with over 150 full- colour photographs. A summary table of walks indicating distances, facilities and highlights is included to help the reader find exactly the right walk for the occasion.

After 20 years working in international aid and development, and as an inveterate wanderer, Julie is now writing - combining her passions for walking and travelling with her enjoyment of words. Julie is the author of a number of guidebooks including  Best Walks of the Great Ocean Road and Melbourne for Dogs. Deb Heyes lives in Melbourne and is a trying-to-retire teacher who couldn’t stop walking to save her life. Perhaps having two lanky sons and a husband (who follows orders) has contributed to that, but it’s given her the excuse and drive to indulge her love of ‘the great outdoors’.
