Description

Katelynd Turner’s love of children’s picture books began early, among the shelves of school libraries in the Blue Mountains. As a library monitor and the daughter of a teacher-librarian, she spent countless hours discovering how stories can soothe, strengthen and transform young minds.Throughout her career in the disability, trauma and neurodiversity sectors, children’s books travelled with her — even to China, where she volunteered with the Shenzhen Autism Society as part of Australia’s AusAID program. Now a single mum to two neurodivergent sons she fostered and later adopted, Katelynd has crafted her own children’s book to give language to the complex, courageous life lessons she has learned professionally, as a neurodivergent woman living with autoimmune disease and as a parent. The Dragon Breath is her first authored and illustrated work — an important story about life disguised as a children’s book, carrying truths meant for every age. Katelynd lives on the Central Coast of NSW, where she can most often be found outdoors covered in mud, crayons and paint, adventuring with her two extraordinary little dragons and practising the healing power of nature.Katelynd Turner’s love of children’s picture books began early, among the shelves of school libraries in the Blue Mountains.
