Description

Born and raised in Koo Wee Rup, south of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Darren learned there were generations of horticultural farmers in his background. He was inspired by his paternal grandfather, Norm Schmutter, who was granted land after World War II and helped maintain the Koo Wee Rup swamps. He was similarly inspired by his maternal grandfather, Len Mills, a hard-working and successful farmer in Dalmore, Victoria. His great-great-great grandfather Robert Whatmough, was a pioneering Victorian horticulturalist who developed a list of successful new fruit cultivars from the 1850s onwards, winning many awards both locally and abroad. With horticulture in his blood, it was inevitable that Darren would adopt a new career path of horticulture and in 2000 he completed his studies at Swinburne University. In the millennium drought, 2001 to 2009, which dried our land and caused panic, uncertainty and massive devastating bushfires, Darren sought a solution for suffering landowners and the Tankless water system was born. Darren has written about Tankless for all the like-minded people that want to conserve fresh storm and surface water to collect, filter, drain and store water abundantly to be used whenever you require it. Darren currently lives in inner Melbourne and has a shopfront and warehouse in Laverton North. For more information go to www.tankless.com.au
